Two individuals have been arrested and face charges of grand theft in connection with an alleged retail theft in Healdsburg.
According to a press release by the Healdsburg Police Department, officers responded on the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 25, to a retail theft call at a local CVS. The business reported that around $1,000 in beauty products had been stolen.
The suspects were seen driving southbound away from the scene, police said.
Officers located the suspect vehicle about three minutes later in the Vineyard Shopping Center. Police reportedly observed one of the suspects entering a Safeway with a large cloth bag and wearing a facemask. Meanwhile, officers made contact with a second suspect in the vehicle.
The suspect who went into Safeway briefly eluded police, but was found about 50 minutes later on Grove Street, approximately three blocks north.
Officers searched the suspect vehicle and reportedly seized numerous beauty products suspected to be stolen from CVS, along with clothing and other items believed to have been previously stolen.
Police identified the suspects as Jaylin Arie Copes, 22, of Antioch, and Antonio Lino Faaeteete, 25, of Oakland.
Both were arrested and booked into Sonoma County jail on suspicion of grand theft, receiving stolen property, and conspiracy.
Faaeteete, who had outstanding warrants for prior weapon and theft-related offenses, also faces a charge of providing false identification to a peace officer for allegedly giving a false name to police.
