Retired Fire Chief Reportedly Pleads No-Contest to Embezzlement

San Joaquin County, CA  –  The former chief of the Mokelumne Rural Fire District has reportedly pleaded no-contest to felony embezzlement.

According to a press release by the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office, authorities received a report on Feb. 22, 2023, alleging embezzlement by retired Fire Chief Frank Ramirez III of the Mokelumne Rural Fire District.

After an investigation, it was confirmed that Ramirez had engaged in embezzlement during his tenure.

A search warrant at his residence led to the recovery of Fire Department property, including a dump trailer.

Ramirez was taken into custody and booked at the San Joaquin County jail.

On Sept. 24 of this year, Ramirez pleaded no-contest to two felony counts of embezzlement.
