Teen Escapes Attempted Kidnapping Near Local Library

“This afternoon at around 1:30 p.m., a 16-year-old girl called 9-1-1 to report an attempted kidnapping near the library. The teen was waiting for the bus in the library park area when a man parked his vehicle nearby and approached her, demanding that she get into his car. When she refused, he grabbed her arm. The girl was able to escape, run to safety, and contact 9-1-1.

The victim provided dispatchers with a detailed description of the man’s vehicle and license plate. Officers quickly located the suspect in his car about a block away.

Nan Wang, 9/19/1979, of Trona, California, was arrested and charged with attempted kidnapping and annoying/molest a child. He was transported to San Diego Central Jail.
