Hayward, CA — A warehouse manager is in custody for allegedly murdering his wife. Alvaro J. Sierra, 47, was eventually arrested on suspicion that he murdered his wife.
A disturbance, that turned out to be fatal was reported on September 23 at 10:26 p.m. A
prepared statement from Hayward police said. “The reporting party called 911 after a family
member at the residence indicated something had happened inside the home.”
Hayward police responded to the 27000 block of Eucalyptus Court. Officers found the victim
lying nearby unresponsive. She was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene. Apparently,
her cause of death was strangulation. When officers arrived to the house, they found, Sierra at home, and his home reportedly suffering from “self-inflicted lacerations.”
Investigators determined the suspicious death of the woman was a homicide. Sierra was
identified as the suspected killer. After Sierra was discharged from the hospital on September
28, Hayward police arrested him the same day at noontime.
Sierra is being held in custody at Alameda County Santa Rita Jail, pending a plea hearing on
October 30. Murder and five related felony charges have been filed against Sierra. The
murder investigation remains active. Anyone with information can contact Hayward police
