Los Altos police are calling on the public for help in identifying four individuals wanted in connection with a recent break-in.
On Saturday, Sept. 28, between 1:30 and 2 p.m., three male suspects allegedly broke into an occupied home on the 700 block of Covington Rd. in Los Altos by smashing a rear glass door. The occupants inside the home startled the suspects, prompting the suspects to flee without taking any belongings. No injuries were reported.
The suspects were reportedly seen leaving in a newer model gray Dodge Durango with tinted windows and no license plates. The vehicle also had a marking on the passenger-side windshield.
According to police, earlier surveillance footage shows a female suspect approaching the front door, appearing to hold a box of candy. Police believe this may have been an attempt to confirm whether anyone was inside the residence. When no one responded, three male suspects proceeded to the backyard, where they forced entry into the home.
The Los Altos Police Department has released descriptions of the four individuals involved in the incident.
The first suspect, an adult female, is described as Black or Hispanic with a medium-to-heavy build and curly or frizzy hair in a ponytail. She was reportedly wearing a black sweatshirt, blue pants, and a light-colored medical mask.
The other three suspects are male with slim builds, though their ethnicity is unclear.
The second suspect wore a gray sweatshirt, black pants, black gloves, a medical mask, and white sneakers. The third suspect was wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, a white medical mask, and black gloves. The fourth suspect wore a light-colored sweatshirt, black pants, red boxer-style underwear, a medical mask, and black gloves.
Investigators are encouraging residents near Covington Road to review their security footage for any images of the suspects, their vehicle, or other suspicious vehicles seen on Saturday afternoon. The suspects may be connected to another burglary that occurred in Hillsborough roughly an hour prior to this incident, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Los Altos Police Department at 650-947-2770.
