SAN MATEO, CA — The San Mateo Police Department recently arrested a man for allegedly vandalizing multiple cars along a city street.
According to a press release, offiecrs responded to multiple reports of a male suspect vandalizing vehicles on South Fremont Street on Oct. 7. Witnesses reported seeing an individual breaking mirrors and windshields of parked cars using a stick.
Officers arrived and detained the suspect, identified as Carlos Utan, 29.
Officers spoke with several witnesses who stated that Utan was hitting the vehicles with a paint roller as he walked down the street. Authorities found a total of eight vehicles with varying degrees of damage, including broken side mirrors, shattered windshields, and damaged hoods.
Utan was arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism and booked into San Mateo County jail.
