Paso Robles Police Respond to Separate Juvenile Arrests Involving Threat and Weapon on School Grounds

On September 24, 2024, at approximately 9:37 p.m., Paso Robles Police officers initiated an investigation after receiving information regarding a possible threat of violence against Lewis Flamson Junior High through the social media platform Snapchat. Officers promptly began tracing the origin of the threat. On September 26, 2024, they identified a 12-year-old student from Lewis Flamson Junior High as the individual responsible for posting the message. Following an interview, the student was arrested for issuing criminal threats.

The investigation concluded that there was no credible threat to the school’s safety. The Paso Robles Police Department emphasized the importance of responsible social media use and encouraged parents to speak with their children about the potential consequences of online behavior.

In a separate incident, on October 10, 2024, at approximately 9:50 a.m., the School Resource Officer (SRO) at Liberty High School responded to a report involving a student in possession of a weapon on school grounds. The situation arose after a small group of students confronted each other in the campus parking lot, raising concerns about possible physical escalation.

Following the school’s safety protocols, a search was conducted on two students identified by the principal as being involved. During the search, a silver folding pocket knife was found in the pocket of one of the students, a 17-year-old male. The student was cooperative during the investigation and was arrested for possession of a weapon on school grounds, a violation of Penal Code 626.10. He was subsequently transported to San Luis Obispo Juvenile Hall.

Both cases remain under investigation. The Paso Robles Police Department urges anyone with information related to these incidents to contact the department at 805-237-6464.
