PBPD Arrests Suspect for Brandishing Imitation Firearm in Shell Beach Incident
“On October 6th, PBPD officers responded to reports of an individual brandishing a firearm from a vehicle in Shell Beach. The team quickly located the suspect’s vehicle and conducted a high-risk stop, successfully detaining the driver, who was identified as the suspect.
Upon investigation, it was revealed that the firearm in question was a BB gun that lacked the necessary orange safety markings to indicate it was not a real weapon. The driver was arrested for brandishing an imitation firearm. Officers confiscated two BB guns without orange safety markings and one AK-style BB gun rifle that did have the orange markings.
Later that day, another victim reported a similar incident to PBPD.
As a Reminder: It is illegal to brandish any replica or imitation firearm. Also, the orange markings on BB guns and toy guns serve a crucial safety purpose!”
