SAN RAFAEL — Marin County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested David G. Lester, 56, on suspicion of trafficking drugs.

The Oakland man was arrested earlier this month at his Oakland home.

Lester was known to law enforcement in Marin County, where he is suspected of trafficking in
various kinds of illicit drugs. The Marin County Sheriff’s Office Specialized Investigative Unit
began an extensive inquiry of him in February and set up a sting operation.

Undercover detectives purchased illegal narcotics from Lester
on several occasions during an investigation spanning nine months. His residence was
searched for a second time as the investigation culminated earlier this month.

Lester was booked on October 2 for possession of controlled substances for sale, and
transportation and sale of controlled substances. However, Lester is no longer listed as an
inmate in county custody. His court date is pending.

A substantial amount of evidence was gathered by investigators. More than 12 pounds of
methamphetamine and 6.5 pounds of the drug GHB were seized by detectives. Various other
drugs seized include cocaine, ketamine, oxycodone, MDMA and Xanax. Detectives also
recovered psilocybin mushrooms and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Lester’s recent arrest is his second drug-related arrest this year. He was also arrested by the
Marin Sheriff’s Office in March. That time his arrest was for possession and transportation of
controlled substances for sale, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
