Fairfield Police Arrest Driver Who Allegedly Tried to Run Over Pedestrian
A man was arrested for allegedly trying to run over another man after a dispute in Fairfield.
According to a press release by the Fairfield Police Department, on the morning of October 8, officers witnessed a vehicle accelerating toward a pedestrian who was walking his bicycle across West Texas Street.
Officers stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver.
Officers learned that the driver, 67, and the pedestrian had been involved in a dispute. During the altercation, the driver allegedly brandished a large knife and held it to the pedestrian’s back, causing a small cut.
As the pedestrian walked away and crossed the street, the driver got into his vehicle and attempted to run him over.
The driver was taken into custody and booked into the county jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
His vehicle was towed from the scene, police said.
