Vallejo police have reportedly arrested three people and recovered a stolen car after a reported sideshow and subsequent pursuit.
Late on the night of October 6, Vallejo police officers responded to multiple reports of a sideshow at the intersection of Tennessee Street and Sacramento Street. Around 100 individuals were reportedly present, with vehicles allegedly doing donuts and obstructing traffic.
A California Highway Patrol air unit flew over the scene and reportedly observed one participant stealing a street sign and placing it into a Hyundai Elantra before leaving the scene. The Elantra was found to have been stolen, police said.
CHP coordinated with Vallejo patrol officers to locate the Elantra, leading to a pursuit. The pursuit was terminated by Vallejo officers for public safety reasons.
The California Highway Patrol resumed the pursuit, which continued into Oakland, where the vehicle eventually became disabled.
At that time, five occupants reportedly fled the vehicle on foot. CHP apprehended three adult male suspects.
A records check revealed that the suspects and the stolen Elantra were from Sacramento, police said.
Officers searched the vehicle and reportedly discovered another stolen street sign. The three suspects were arrested and taken to the Solano County jail on multiple felony charges.
The vehicle was towed, and the owner was notified of its recovery.
