Yuba County Man Convicted of Attempted Possession of CSAM

A Yuba County man has reportedly been convicted on one count of the attempted possession of child pornography.

In a press release, the District Attorney’s Office announced the guilty verdict against Christopher Ryan Brown, 32, of Olivehurst, who had been accused of attempting to solicit a 10-year-old girl over social media.

In 2023, Brown reportedly contacted the victim, referred to in the press release only as “Jane,” over Instagram. According to the District Attorney, the victim’s profile clearly indicated that she was 10 years old and that her profile was monitored by a parent.

On the night of June 9, Jane’s mother noticed that Brown was following her daughter’s account. Posing as her daughter, Jane’s mother sent Brown a message saying, “Hi,” to which Brown reportedly responded by asking if she wanted to have sex and repeatedly requesting nude photos.

Jane’s mother contacted authorities.

Following an investigation, deputies responded to Brown’s home on August 11, 2023, to arrest him. When they arrived, Brown reportedly jumped naked out of a back window and fled on foot through alleys and backyards.

Deputies caught and arrested him about ten minutes later.

On October 11 of this year, Brown was found guilty of attempting to possess child pornography. The jury deliberated for about a half-hour, the District Attorney’s Office said.

Brown’s sentencing, for this crime and an unrelated domestic violence charge, is scheduled for the afternoon of October 28. He remains in custody in the meantime.
