Suspect Arrested in Connection with Homicide of 15-Year-Old in Merced

Police in Merced have arrested an individual in connection with the murder of a 15-year-old in September.

According to a press release by the Merced Police Department, investigators had identified John Flores, 27, as the primary suspect in the shooting which occurred on the 1800 block of West North Bear Creek Drive on September 9.

On October 24, authorities served a search warrant on the 300 block of Lions Back Court as part of the investigation.

Flores, reportedly a known gang member, was arrested and booked on suspicion of homicide.

Investigators believe Flores had been accompanied by a second individual, and are calling on the public for help identifying this individual.
