Suspect in Double Homicide Booked at Tulare County Detention Facility

TULARE, CA   –

“Update: Double homicide

Suspect booked at Tulare County South Detention Facility on the double homicide that occurred on October 24, 2024, at approximately 02:59 AM in the City of Tulare.

The Tulare Police Department communication center received a call regarding a home intruder. When officers arrived on scene they located 58 year old Melissa Quinn and 38 year old Raymond Garza of Tulare suffering from stab wounds, in their home. Melissa and Raymond both succumbed to their injuries.

Officers also located 30 year old Fabian Gamaz of Tulare in the backyard. Fabian Gamez had been shot by a resident in the home after the stabbings.

Through the course of the investigation detectives learned Fabian Gamez entered the residence and was confronted by Melissa Quinn and during the contact Fabian Gamez stabbed her. Fabian Gamez was then confronted by Raymond Garza and during the altercation Fabian Gamez stabbed Garza.

A resident in the home heard the commotion and confronted Fabian Gamez, as he was standing over Raymond Garza. The resident shot Fabian Gamez who then tried to flee the scene, but the resident was able to keep him at the location until officers arrived.

Investigator believed Fabian Gamez was out committing burglaries in the area and unlawfully entered the victims’ residence.

Fabian Gamez was treated for injuries at a local hospital and has been booked at Tulare County South Detention facility on two counts of homicide. This is still an ongoing investigation and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Tulare Police Department.”
