Kern County Man Allegedly Caught with Narcotics, Loaded Firearms

A Kern County man was taken into custody after he was allegedly found to be in possession of loaded firearms and narcotics.

According to a press release by the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, the office’s Gang Suppression Unit conducted a traffic stop near Olive and Knudsen Drives on Thursday, Oct. 24.

Deputies reportedly discovered 160 grams of black tar heroin, 16 grams of methamphetamine, and two loaded firearms inside the vehicle.

The driver, identified as 33-year-old Mathew Christy, was arrested and booked into the Lerdo Justice Facility.

Christy reportedly faces charges including possession of a controlled substance for sales and transportation, felon in possession of a firearm or ammunition, possession of a stolen firearm, and participation in a criminal street gang.
