Detectives with the California Highway Patrol have reportedly arrested a Vallejo man on multiple charges, including negligent firearm discharge, following a freeway shooting investigation.
According to a press release from the CHP, the shooting occurred on September 11 at around 6 p.m. on I-80 near Tennessee Street. Witnesses had reported seeing a driver fire a gun into the air while on the freeway.
With information provided by witnesses, including the suspect’s vehicle description and license plate, investigators tracked the vehicle using Flock Safety camera data.
This reportedly led investigators to identify 43-year-old Victor Hugo France, Jr. of Vallejo as the primary suspect.
On the morning of Thursday, Oct. 24, SIU detectives, assisted by the Golden Gate Division Warrant Service Team, conducted a search at France’s residence.
France was arrested on suspicion of the negligent discharge of a firearm, illegal firearm possession, including a short-barrel rifle and assault weapon, unauthorized firearm transfer, and possession of narcotics for sale.
During the search, detectives reportedly confiscated several firearms, ammunition, and substances suspected to be narcotics intended for sale.
