AMADOR COUNTY, CA — “On 10/19/2024, at about 4:00am, multiple deputies observed a suspicious vehicle in the area of New York Ranch Road and Ridge Road. When the deputies approached the unoccupied vehicle, they observed a large amount of what appeared to be stolen copper wire and power tools in the vehicle. In the vicinity of the vehicle, deputies located two adult male subjects and through their investigation, the deputies determined the men had been occupants of the vehicle and had been in possession of the suspected stolen wire. The deputies ultimately arrested John Evans and John McBride, of the Angels Camp area for multiple felonies, including possession of stolen property.
Later the same day, at about 10:30am, employees at the Amador Water Agency, near Sutter Creek, discovered a break-in and a large amount of copper wire and power tools had been stolen. Video surveillance showed the same vehicle had been at the crime scene and footprints were located that matched one of the arrested subjects. Upon completing the investigation, evidence indicated that Evans and McBride had committed the theft at Amador Water Agency and were contacted and arrested only about 20 minutes later by proactive deputies. Both men were charged with additional felonies, including vandalism and grand theft.”
