SUTTER CREEK, CA — “At approximately 11:30pm on October 30, 2024, Sutter Creek Police officers and the Sutter Creek Fire Protection District were alerted to a fire burning behind a closed business in Sutter Creek.
Thanks to a quick response from first responders the fire was quickly extinguished, and no one was injured.
Due to the suspicious nature nature of the fire, an investigation was initiated.
During the investigation SCPD discovered evidence that identified a Pioneer resident as being responsible for intentionally setting the fire.
Shortly after setting the fire, he fled the area and was involved in a serious injury vehicle collision in Pioneer and was subsequently arrested by the California Highway Patrol for felony DUI.
SCPD spoke with the man while in custody for the DUI charges and subsequently arrested him for arson.
