Robbery Suspect Arrested After Attempted Escape Foiled by Riverside Police K-9

“This afternoon, officers responded to a robbery that just occurred at the 7-Eleven at Van Buren Blvd. & Lincoln Ave. where the suspect, armed with a knife, thought he had it all figured out.  He fled the area but a sergeant spotted him near Harrison St. and the railroad tracks.  When Air-1 arrived, the suspect made the classic “run-for-the-trees” move, because hiding always works, right?

K-9 “Kobe” responded and wasn’t impressed. It didn’t take too long for “Kobe” to activate some Mamba mentality to sniff him out and end this silly game of hide-and-seek.

The suspect was taken into custody in some very thick brush with only a little fuss, along with some stolen cash and the knife. After a quick visit to the hospital to patch up a couple technical fouls “Kobe” dished out, the transient parolee suspect was booked into jail where he’ll have plenty of time to reflect on his not-so-brilliant game plan.

Seriously though, this was great teamwork set up by our Watch B Patrol Officers, Air Support Unit, and the K-9 Team to get this criminal off the streets!”
