San Luis Obispo Man Arrested Following RTA Minivan Carjacking Incident

On Monday, October 28, at approximately 3:29 p.m., multiple 911 calls reported the theft of an RTA minivan from the JB Dewar gas station at 75 Prado. According to reports, the van driver was refueling the vehicle when a man approached, forcibly shoved the driver away, and took control of the vehicle. The van was last seen heading northbound on Highway 101, with the rear hatch left open.

Responding officers located the stolen van on Highway 101, just beyond the Monterey Street ramp, and successfully stopped it near Old Stagecoach Road. The driver, identified as Cody Miller, 36, a transient in San Luis Obispo, was arrested on charges of felony carjacking (PC 215), felony vehicle theft (VC 10851), and a parole violation (PC 3056).

Miller was transported to the San Luis Obispo County Jail, where he remains in custody. The driver of the van was unharmed, and the vehicle has since been returned to RTA.
