San Mateo Police Arrest Man for Alleged Possession of Unregistered Firearm

SAN MATEO, CA —  Officers with the San Mateo Police Departtment police recently arrested an individual for the alleged possession of narcotics and an unregistered firearm following a report of erratic behavior.

According to a press release by the San Mateo Police Department, officers responded to a call on the evening of Tuesday, Nov. 12, about a disturbance on the 500 block of South Norfolk Street.

The reporting party stated the person causing the disturbance may be under the influence of drugs, police said.

When officers arrived, they found the individual in front of a residence and noted that he was behaving erratically. Officers detained Cabrera in handcuffs for safety. During this process, they reportedly located a loaded pistol in his pants pocket. Officers confiscated the weapon.

Officers spoke with a witness and conducted an evaluation, determining that the individual was under the influence of a controlled substance.

During a search, officers reportedly found a plastic bag containing a substance suspected to be cocaine, as well as extra ammunition for the firearm. The firearm was also found not to be registered to the individual.

The individual, identified as  was then transported to the San Mateo County jail and booked on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and carrying a loaded firearm.
