WILLOWS, CA — A Glenn County inmate previously convicted of child sex abuse has been denied parole, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
In a press release, the District Attorney announced that the parole board had held a reconsideration hearing for Brian Kenneth Michaud, 54, in which Michaud was deemed an unreasonable risk to public safety and denied parole.
Michaud had been sentenced in July of 2020 to six years in state prison for oral copulation on a child under 14 years of age with the victim being ten years younger than the defendant, the D.A.’s Office said.
Michaud was later paroled in May of 2023 and given a 20-year parole period due to his status as a high-risk sex offender. Michaud violated his parole less than two months later and was returned to prison.
His parole was reportedly denied during a reconsideration hearing in December of 2023.
Michaud’s second reconsideration hearing was held on November 6 of this year. District Attorney Michael Coffey argued that Michaud posed a risk to public safety, and the judge agreed.
Michaud’s next reconsideration hearing will be held in a year, the D.A.’s Office said.
