LIVINGSTON, CA — “On November 12, 2024, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Special Victims Unit began investigating a report of a kidnapping and violent sexual assault of a 16-year-old.
On November 9, 2024, a 35-year-old Livingston, CA resident, later identified by Detectives as Edgar Perez Medina, is suspected of creating a fictitious online social media profile posing as an 18-year-old male. He began communicating with the minor and made plans to meet at a location in South Stanislaus County the next day. Medina met with the minor near her home as planned and demanded she get into his car. He then drove to a secluded orchard, where he violently sexually assaulted the victim. After the attack, Medina drove the minor into the city limits of Turlock, where he dropped her off.
After receiving the report, SVU Detectives quickly identified Medina and found him to be a 290 PC sexual registrant out of Merced County for a crime against a child he was convicted of in 2017. Medina is already a lifetime 290 PC sex registrant with a full post on Megan’s Law.
Wednesday, SVU Detectives arrested Medina in Livingston, CA, on an arrest warrant. A search warrant was executed at his house in Livingston, and his vehicle was seized as evidence. Medina was further found in possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for five counts of 209(b)(1) PC – Kidnapping with intent to commit robbery, rape, oral copulation or sodomy, 288.3 PC – Communicating with a minor with intent to commit sex acts, 288.4 PC – Arranging a meeting with a minor to commit sex acts and 311.11 – Possession of child pornography.
Medina was arraigned in court on November 15 and held on a $4.8 million bail.
