Moss Landing Suspect Arrested for Attempted Murder Following Stabbing Incident
On November 20, 2024, Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a suspect following a stabbing incident in Moss Landing. At approximately 5:00 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a stabbing on the 100 block of Bluff Road. Upon arrival, they located a victim who had sustained injuries consistent with being stabbed with a long bolt-type piece of metal.
The victim, who was skateboarding in the area of Trafton Road and Bluff Road, identified the suspect as a local resident. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect fled the scene on a bicycle before deputies arrived.
Deputies identified the suspect as 24-year-old Jose Luis MartinezLeonor of Moss Landing, based on statements from the victim and nearby residents. At approximately 8:20 p.m., deputies received a call reporting that MartinezLeonor was knocking on a door along the 100 block of Bluff Road. Deputies responded to the location and apprehended him at his residence without incident.
MartinezLeonor was transported to the Monterey County Jail and booked on charges of Attempted Murder and Assault with a Deadly Weapon. His bail was set at $1,030,000. Authorities confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
