A couple is facing narcotics and weapons charges in Lassen County after originally being arrested in Butte County for the alleged possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine.
According to a press release by the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, detectives on November 7 received word from Butte County detectives that Westwood residents Thomas Morris, 41, and Cynthia Johnson, 59, had been arrested.
The two had been arrested for the alleged possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine, with authorities reportedly confiscating about 84 grams of the former and just over 13 grams of the latter, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Detectives reportedly also uncovered evidence of drug sales and that the couple were in possession of firearms, leading Lassen County deputies to secure a search warrant for the couple’s home on Ash Street in Westwood.
On November 15, the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office carried out the warrant with assistance from SWAT, the Drone Team, the Crisis Negotiation Team, and Butte County detectives.
Investigators believed Morris and Johnson were inside the home and issued repeated commands for them to exit. When the suspects did not comply, SWAT breached the front door.
Afterward, Morris and Johnson came outside and were taken into custody without incident, authorities said.
Investigators reportedly seized additional suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and a flare gun during the search.
Morris and Johnson were arrested on suspicion of being felons in possession of a flare gun, possessing fentanyl and methamphetamine, possessing drug paraphernalia, and resisting arrest.
