CLOVIS, CA — A 19-year-old suspected of driving under the influence has reportedly been arrested in connection with a fatal multi-vehicle collision in Fresno County.
According to a press release by the Clovis Police Department, the collision occurred just after 2 a.m. at the intersection of Fowler and Gettysburg avenues overnight on Saturday, Nov. 30. The collision involved five vehicles, with multiple injuries reported.
Investigators say the suspect was driving a Hyundai westbound on Gettysburg at high speed when he allegedly ran a red light at Fowler and struck a second Hyundai traveling southbound on Fowler.
The impact caused both vehicles to spin into three parked cars in nearby driveways, authorities said.
The suspect, identified as Fnu Himanshu of Clovis, and two of his passengers reportedly sustained injuries and were transported to local hospitals. The driver and a passenger in the second vehicle were also hospitalized.
The passenger, an adult female who had been riding in the front seat, later died from her injuries. The driver remains in critical condition, authorities said.
Authorities have not released the name of the deceased passenger.
Once treated and released, Himanshu reportedly faces multiple felony charges in connection with the incident.
