Man Wanted in Connection with 2021 Merced Homicide Reportedly Arrested in Solano County
A Vallejo man wanted in connection with a 2021 homicide in Merced was reportedly arrested during a traffic stop in Solano County this past November.
According to a press release by the California Highway Patrol, officers apprehended 27-year-old Jeremiah Marquis Macias Lacy on Friday, Nov. 15. Lacy had been wanted in connection with the death of Christina Velez, 33, since 2021.
At approximately 2:45 p.m., a CHP patrol officer noted a silver Toyota Camry driver not wearing a seatbelt and initiated a traffic stop. The driver, later identified as Lacy, allegedly failed to provide identification and gave false personal information.
After multiple attempts to verify the driver’s identity, the Solano County Sheriff’s Office responded with a fingerprint reader, which confirmed the driver as Jeremiah Lacy.
At that point, authorities discovered Lacy was wanted on a $1.5 million warrant for the murder of Christina Velez. Lacy is reportedly accused of involvement in a robbery and shootout that resulted in Velez’s death and another person suffering major injuries on East Main Street in Merced in October of 2021.
Two other suspects are already in custody in connection with the incident, police said.
Lacy was booked into the Solano County jail.
