FAIRFIELD, CA  —  A woman on probation for forgery has been arrested for allegedly scamming an elderly victim out of thousands of dollars and using the money to buy a vehicle.

In a press release, the Fairfield Police Department identified Luisa Soane, 30, of Hayward as the suspect.

According to police, investigators began looking into a case of elder abuse in which the perpetrator allegedly stole several thousand dollars from the victim’s bank account and purchased a vehicle using the victim’s identity.

Authorities say that Soane had been in contact with the victim while posing as a Fairfield police officer.

On December 5, police took Soane into custody.

Investigators reportedly also discovered that Soane is on probation out of San Diego for forgery.
