Woodland Police Arrest Two Suspects in Firearm Theft Investigation

WOODLAND, CA

“12/05/24 at 1:37 am, a citizen reported their firearm had been stolen from their residence in Woodland. The investigation showed that two individuals had just visited the home and left. The resident provided names and descriptions of the people who had been there, Juan Ricardo Lopez, a 51-year-old Woodland resident, and Makayela Steinke a 32-year-old Woodland resident.

Officers were familiar with both individuals and they were located in a vehicle, in a parking lot on West Main Street together. K-9 Bruno arrived and alerted to the presence of a target odor inside the vehicle. Officers detained Lopez and Steinke.

Drug paraphernalia was located inside the vehicle. Steinke was in possession of the stolen firearm. She was arrested for theft of a firearm, carrying a concealed loaded firearm in a vehicle, possession of a firearm that was not registered to her, and committing a felony while out on bail. Lopez had a felony warrant so he was arrested.

Lopez and Steinke were both booked into the Yolo County Jail. (RT)”
