Ventura County, CA –Twenty four year old arrested for the murder of a 15-year-old boy.
What was initially a fairly routine call for service at a home in the unincorporated Casa
Conejo area of Ventura County on the evening of December 5 quickly became a
critical homicide investigation when Ventura County Sheriff’s Department patrol
deputies arrived at the residence and discovered a bloody scene of apparent violence.
According to VCSD spokesman Deputy Ashley Barrios, the responding deputies
discovered “a male juvenile victim” unresponsive. The 15-year-old boy had sustained
“severe traumatic injuries,” necessitating immediate medical intervention. Emergency
medical services were immediately summoned, whereupon the victim was transported
to a local area hospital and was later pronounced “deceased.”
Multiple specialized investigative units including the VCSD Major Crimes Bureau, East
County Major Crimes Unit, Thousand Oaks Patrol, Special Enforcement Unit, Traffic
Unit, and Crime Scene Investigations Unit promptly went to work. Their collective efforts
led detectives to identify Zuberi Sharp, a 24-year-old Newbury Park resident, as the
primary suspect in this violent episode.
Sharp was taken into custody and transported to Ventura County Jail, where he was
formally booked for murder. He remains in custody on a no-bail hold.
