GRANITE BAY, CA
A transient man was arrested on Tuesday, December 17th, after allegedly attempting to kidnap a middle school student at a bus stop in Granite Bay. The incident occurred around 8 a.m. near the intersection of Douglas Boulevard and Quail Oaks Drive. According to authorities, the student was waiting for the bus when a man approached and instructed the student to leave with him. The student then fled to their home and informed their parents, who subsequently called law enforcement.
Deputies responded to the scene and located the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Joshua Landreth of Roseville. Law enforcement officials reported that Landreth initially did not comply with their orders but was ultimately taken into custody and booked into the Placer County Jail with a total bail amount $209,500. Landreth is no stranger to law enforcement, as he has multiple prior arrests in recent years. He now faces new charges related to Tuesday’s incident, including attempted kidnapping. According to Placer County Jail records, Landreth is still in custody as of 1pm on 12/19/2024.
The incident is currently under investigation, and authorities have not released additional details at this time.
