Cloverdale Man Arrested for Alleged Assault With a Deadly Weapon
SONOMA COUNTY, Calif. — Cloverdale police have reportedly arrested an individual for the alleged unprovoked assault of an acquaintance last weekend.
According to a press release by the Cloverdale Police Department, an officer was flagged down by an individual on the 40 block of Cherry Creek Road in the early morning hours of Sunday, Dec. 22. The officer stopped just as a second individual was reportedly seen running across the road, away from the scene.
Police say that this second individual, later identified as 26-year-old Heriberto Guerrero Castillo, had allegedly entered the home of an acquaintance and assaulted the victim unprovoked “with a blunt object.”
The victim sustained injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.
Officers quickly apprehended Castillo and took him into custody on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and burglary. He was later booked at the Sonoma County jail.
