An incident, in November, involving 35-year-old Moorpark, Ca. resident, Kelley Pasos Jr., resulted in his arrest a month later.
According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Det. Bryan Glasscock, a 911 phone call reported that Pasos Jr. had “verbally threatened
a female victim while brandishing a handgun.” That phone call started an investigation
by the Moorpark Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) Detectives who quickly determined
that Pasos Jr. had a previous felony conviction, which legally barred him from owning or
possessing firearms and ammunition.
This critical piece of information apparently alerted law enforcement to the potential
seriousness of the situation. Pursuant to further investigation over the next 30 days, a
search warrant of Pasos Jr.’s residence, person, and vehicle was issued based on the
reported threats and his illegal possession of a firearm .
On Dec. 17, in a coordinated effort among detectives from the Moorpark
SEU, officers from the Moorpark Patrol, and deputies from the Todd Road Jail
Classification Unit, the search warrant was served at Pasos’ home where they
discovered a .22 pistol, a .357 Magnum revolver, and a number of live ammunition
rounds—“substantial evidence of Pasos Jr.’s violation of the law.”
Pasos Jr. was taken into custody and transported to Ventura County Jail, where he was
charged with criminal threats, exhibiting a deadly weapon, possessing a firearm as a
felon, and possession ammunition as a felon. He remains in custody on a no-bail hold.
