Yuba County Man Arrested for Allegedly Threatening Individual, Deputies with Gun While Intoxicated
OLIVEHURST, Calif. — Yuba County deputies have reportedly arrested an individual on several charges for allegedly threatening another individual and deputies with a gun while severely intoxicated.
According to a press release, deputies responded on the night of Thursday, Dec. 26, to the 4700 block of Fleming Way after receiving a 9-1-1 call in which a woman was heard pleading with a man to “put the gun down.”
The suspect, whom deputies identified as 30-year-old Andrew Shrader, was reportedly severely intoxicated, armed with a firearm, and making threats. Deputies attempted to de-escalate the situation, but Shrader allegedly began reaching for his gun. One deputy discharged their department-issued handgun but Shrader was not hit, the sheriff’s office said.
Two other deputies deployed less lethal weapons, and Shrader was taken into custody at that time, police said. He sustained minor injuries from the less lethal contact and was transported to the hospital for clearance.
Shrader is reportedly expected to be booked into Yuba County jail on suspicion of making threats to a peace officer, carrying a loaded firearm in public, carrying metal knuckles, and being drunk in public.
