Six Claremont Businesses Burglarized During the Night Across Two Days; Two Arrested

“Between January 2, 2025 and January 4, 2025, six businesses were burglarized during the night. Four of the burglaries occurred in the 800-900 block of west Foothill Boulevard, and two of the burglaries occurred in the 700 block of south Indian Hill Boulevard. CPD Detectives and Officers conducted extensive follow-up on leads obtained during their investigations of each burglary.
On January 4, 2025, CPD Detectives identified the suspect as Hector Bernal, 30 years old from Covina. The investigation led Detectives to a local hotel in Claremont, where the suspect was staying.
CPD Detectives conducted surveillance at the hotel. At 12:50pm Hector Bernal and a female were seen exiting the hotel. Bernal was arrested without incident for six counts of commercial burglary, grand theft, theft with priors, and possession of stolen property. The female, Alexis Tinoco, 28 years old from Upland was also arrested for possession of stolen property. They were both transported to the CPD Jail for booking.
CPD Detectives executed a search warrant at Bernal and Tinoco’s hotel room, where additional stolen property was located. These items included stolen property belonging to the Claremont victims of the commercial burglaries. Bernal is being held at the CPD Jail pending his court appearance at the Pomona Courthouse on January 7, 2025, at 8:00am. Tinoco was released on a written promise to appear.”
