HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. — A man wanted on a felony warrant was arrested by Humboldt County law enforcement after initially providing a false name and fleeing  from deputies on foot, according to a media release.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office reported that, around 10 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 5, a patrol deputy contacted the occupants of a parked vehicle with expired registration in the Samoa Dunes Recreation Area. One of the occupants allegedly identified himself as “Billy Waters” and asked permission to use the restroom, but instead fled on foot into the nearby dunes.

Deputies soon discovered via records check that “Billy Waters” was actually Joshua Price, 44, who reportedly had a felony arrest warrant for the alleged possession of a controlled substance while armed.

Despite searching the immediate area, deputies could not locate Price at the time, the sheriff’s office said.

Around noon that day, another deputy spotted Price on a local beach and tried to make contact, but Price allegedly fled on foot again and entered the Humboldt Bay Social Club, a private property.

Deputies later located and arrested Price in a nearby wooded area. He was booked at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on his outstanding warrant, the sheriff’s office said.
