“Our officers recently conducted two separate traffic stops that highlight the importance of proactive policing and ensuring public safety:

Traffic Stop #1: An officer stopped a vehicle for expired registration. During the stop, the driver was found to be driving under the influence (DUI). While conducting an inventory search prior to towing the vehicle, the officer discovered a ghost gun (untraceable firearm) in the center console with a 30-round magazine loaded with 23 rounds. The driver was arrested and transported to jail for DUI and multiple firearms violations.

Traffic Stop #2: An officer observed a vehicle on Foothills and Pleasant Grove with a passenger dangerously hanging out of the sunroof. The stop revealed the driver was on parole. One of the passengers was found carrying a loaded ghost gun and a half-loaded 30-round magazine. A search of the passenger’s backpack uncovered marijuana packaged for sale, a scale, baggies, and $1,240 in cash.

Ghost guns are untraceable, unregulated firearms that pose a significant threat to public safety, especially when paired with high-capacity magazines. These cases underscore the importance of proactive policing in preventing potential violence and keeping our streets safe.”
