Suspect Identified and Arrested in Connection with 3 Armed Robberies in Sacramento

“The Sacramento Police Department is pleased to announce the charging of 21-year-old Brandon McGrath of Sacramento in connection with three armed robberies that occurred within the City of Sacramento.
On October 28, 2024, Sacramento Police Officers responded to Chando’s Tacos in the 800 block of Arden Way for reports of an armed robbery. During the investigation, officers learned the suspect entered the business and utilized a handgun to strike a female employee in the head more than once. The suspect fled prior to police arrival.
On October 29, 2024, Sacramento Police Officers responded to two additional armed robberies that occurred at two taco stands in the City of Sacramento, one being near E. Commerce Wy and New Market Dr just before 8:45 p.m. and one in the 3800 block of Northgate Blvd just after 9:00 p.m. Again, the suspect fled prior to police arrival.
These cases were immediately forwarded to our Robbery Detectives, who began an extensive investigation into these cases. On January 3, 2025, Sacramento Police Officers and Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to reports of an attempted armed robbery of a taco stand near Fruitridge Rd and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The employees fought back and were able to hold McGrath down until law enforcement arrived on scene and took him into custody.
On January 7, 2025, after additional follow-up, detectives additionally booked McGrath (who was still in custody) with the three robberies that occurred within the City of Sacramento. This was a collaborative effort between our officers, detectives, the Sheriff’s Department, and just as importantly, the community.”
