SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA – “This morning, 28-year-old Edwin Valdez was arrested in relation to a sexual assault investigation conducted by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Sexual and Elder Abuse Bureau (SEAB). The victim in this case reported that Valdez had sexually assaulted her multiple times when she was a minor.
Valdez was transported and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on two counts of Penetration with a Foreign Object on a Victim who is Under 18 Years of Age, four counts of Oral Copulation with a Person who is Under 18 Years of Age, two counts of Communicating with a Minor with the Intent to Commit a Sex Offense, and two counts of Contacting a Minor with the Intent to Commit Other Sexual Offenses.
He is currently being held in custody on $500,000 bail. Valdez is scheduled to appear in court on January 16.
This is an active and ongoing criminal investigation. Detectives are concerned there may be other unreported victims, as Valdez is known to have had access to other minors through his position at his church, as well as in different roles outside of the church.
