The Corona Police Department has provided updates on its activities for the week of December 30, 2024, through January 5, 2025. Officers responded to 1,835 incidents, including alarm calls, area checks, disturbance calls, property checks, and welfare checks. Over the week, 70 individuals were arrested on various charges.
On December 31, at 12:33 p.m., officers detained three individuals in connection with a theft incident at Home Depot on East Ontario Avenue. Mayra Torres, 35, was arrested for petty theft and additional charges under Prop 36 for theft with prior convictions. Juan Torres, 49, was arrested for possession of an illegal weapon, while Mario Nunez-Sanchez, 36, was apprehended for providing false information and a felony burglary warrant.
On January 1, at 4:56 p.m., Victor Molina, 48, was arrested following a road rage incident where he allegedly attempted to run another vehicle off the road and confronted the victim. Molina was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and disobeying officers.
On January 2, at 9:11 a.m., Cesar Ortiz, 18, was arrested after allegedly robbing a victim at gunpoint during a Facebook Marketplace transaction. Ortiz was located and detained by Riverside Police officers, and Corona detectives executed a search warrant at his residence, recovering a replica firearm.
On January 3, at 9:31 p.m., officers responded to a burglary alarm at Orange Grove High School and arrested Emilio Sandoval, 31, who was found in possession of stolen property and narcotics. Sandoval, on probation for possession of stolen property, now faces charges of burglary, drug possession, and probation violation.
