SAN MATEO COUNTY, Calif. — San Mateo police have reportedly arrested a motorist from Kentucky who allegedly struck another vehicle intentionally because he was upset they were driving with their high-beams on.
In a press release, the San Mateo Police Department reported that officers had been dispatched to investigate a report of a hit-and-run in the early morning hours of Sunday, Jan. 12, in the area of Pacific Boulevard and Meadows Drive.
As officers were en route, they were advised by police in nearby Belmont that they had pursued and pulled over a possible suspect vehicle in relation to the hit-and-run.
San Mateo police officers responded to the location of the traffic stop and spoke with the driver, whom they identified as Frank Falcone, 62, from Kentucky.
Falcone reportedly told officers that he had been driving along northbound Pacific Boulevard a car passed him going the other way with its high-beams on. Upset because of “the brightness and potential radiation,” Falcone allegedly rammed the vehicle two separate times, police said.
Falcone then fled the scene and reportedly refused to yield to pursuing officers because “people impersonate cops,” San Mateo police said.
Falcone was ultimately arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and booked at the San Mateo County jail.
