OAKLEY— Officers arrested two suspects who fled from Oakley to Hercules in a stolen vehicle. A
police pursuit began after an Oakley officer spotted a car with a mismatched license plate. The same
plate was reported lost or stolen from a different vehicle, and linked to a recent robbery.
An Oakley officer patrolling Main Street near Bridgehead Road saw the plate on a Honda, which
belonged to a Lexus. Shortly thereafter, the officer learned this same license plate was used on a
getaway vehicle following a robbery in Dublin.
Two officers attempted to stop the Honda, which fled at a high rate of speed onto westbound California
State Route 4. A Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office helicopter monitored the pursuit from overhead,
all the way to Hercules.
The pursuit ended on the 1900 block of Railroad Avenue in Hercules, where the driver abandoned the
Honda. Police found more stolen license plates and a blank key fob inside, along with spent shell
casings.
This suspect identified as Kalil Houston, 20 of Antioch, next attempted to flee on foot, but Houston was
apprehended a short time later. Houston remains in custody at the West County Detention Facility in
lieu of $75,000 bond. Houston was booked on suspicion of taking a vehicle without owner’s consent, receiving stolen property and conspiracy to commit crime.
This is not Houston’s first brush with the law, as public records show he was arrested in August of 2024 for similar offenses.
A passenger who was with Houston stayed inside the vehicle. The second suspect Isaiah Mitchell, 21,
of Antioch, was also arrested, however he is no longer in custody. Mitchell was booked for similar
offenses associated with stolen property and criminal conspiracy.
