VALLEJO, Calif. — A burglary suspect was arrested after allegedly attempting to enter an occupied home, according to Vallejo police.
According to a press release by the Vallejo Police Department, officers responded to an alleged burglary in progress on Monday, Jan. 13, at a residence on the 500 block of Calaveras Street.
Police say the homeowner reported being inside his home when he saw a man’s silhouette in his sunroom. The unknown man allegedly approached the sliding glass door and attempted to open it. The homeowner then confronted the individual, who fled the scene.
The homeowner pursued the suspect while relaying details to police dispatch. The suspect reportedly fled through multiple backyards, jumping fences, as nearby residents contacted police with sightings.
Police ultimately intercepted the suspect on Ventura Street. Officers searched him and reportedly confiscated a glass pipe associated with methamphetamine use and stolen mail addressed to various names and locations.
The homeowner positively identified the suspect as the person involved in the attempted burglary, police said.
The suspect was booked at the Solano County jail.
