On January 7, 2025, the Turlock Police Department, in collaboration with the Stanislaus County Auto Theft Task Force (STANCATT), Special Investigations Unit (SIU), and detectives, executed a search warrant at a residence on the 100 block of Soderstrom Lane. The search followed months of investigation led by Officer Lupe, a patrol officer with a focus on addressing auto theft.
During the operation, investigators recovered several stolen vehicle parts, including high-value engines, transmissions, and a 1970s Camaro with a stolen engine. In total, six stolen engine components and various other items connected to auto theft were seized.
Two suspects were identified and arrested in connection with the operation. Armando Aguilar, 24, was detained at the scene and charged with operating a chop shop, six counts of possessing stolen property, and possession of burglary tools. His father, Fernando Aguilar, 50, was later arrested and charged with operating a chop shop and six counts of possessing stolen property. Both suspects were booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Facility.
This operation underscores the commitment of Officer Lupe and the collaborative efforts of STANCATT and Turlock Police Department personnel in addressing auto theft and related crimes. The recovery of a significant amount of stolen property reflects the ongoing dedication to tackling this issue in the community.
