Woodland Police Arrest Suspect in Gun Threat Incident Following Brief Pursuit

“Gun Arrest Made During Call for Service
On January 14, Woodland Police officers responded to an area near North and East Streets where a person was threatened with a firearm. Within minutes, officers found a person matching the description nearby. The suspect, 19-year-old Javier Gonzales of Woodland, ran from officers but was safely taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit. He was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm, which was not registered. Gonzales was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, a variety of firearms charges, and a local warrant for his arrest.
This is the second gun arrest of this week and just one example of how our officers utilize de-escalation techniques to bring a safe resolution to potentially volatile situations in our community.
