NOVATO — Marin County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested two men suspected cocaine
trafficking. The two suspects were taken into custody in Novato on January 15.
John O’Conner, 38, of San Rafael, was under surveillance for suspected
cocaine trafficking in Marin County. Detectives learned that O’Conner would be traveling to a
residential neighborhood in Novato for a meeting with David Cermano-Godinez, 34 of San Pablo, for a
cocaine transaction. Cermano-Godinez arrived in Novato accompanied by his two young children and their mother.
“O’Conner was placed under arrest for facilitating the sale of cocaine,” according to the
sheriff’s office. “Cermano-Godinez was placed under arrest for possession of cocaine with
intent for sales, and child endangerment for bringing his children.”
Search warrants were executed at O’Conner’s and Cermano-Godinez’s residences.
Approximately a quarter pound of suspected cocaine was recovered at Cermano-Godinez’s
home. The suspected cocaine recovered from inside Cermano-Godinez’s vehicle has an
estimated $50,000 street value.
O’Conner and Cermano-Godinez were each booked at Marin County Jail. However, the two
suspects are no longer listed in the custody in the county jail roster. The Department of Child
and Family Services was notified that the two children were present for the suspected cocaine
transaction.
