San Bernardino Detectives Recover Stolen Jeep and Arrest Suspect in Grand Theft Auto Case

ROSENA RANCH, CA — On January 6, 2025, at approximately 4:30 a.m., a 2020 Jeep Cherokee was reported stolen from a residence in the 3900 block of Obsidian Road, located in the Rosena Ranch community of San Bernardino. The vehicle, which was unlocked at the time, contained personal items including credit cards belonging to the victim.
Detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Fontana Station initiated an investigation and determined that the victim’s credit cards had been used at multiple businesses in San Bernardino. Surveillance footage from these locations identified 44-year-old Frederick Neely, a San Bernardino resident, as the individual using the stolen cards. Further investigation led detectives to Neely’s residence, where the stolen Jeep Cherokee was recovered.
On January 9, 2025, detectives executed a search warrant at Neely’s residence and recovered additional stolen property. An arrest warrant was subsequently issued for Neely, citing charges of conspiracy and grand theft auto.
On January 10, 2025, Neely was apprehended in Riverside County and transferred to the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff at West Valley Detention Center.
Authorities remind residents to secure their vehicles and ensure keys are kept in a safe location to deter theft. Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to contact Detective D. Pedersen at the Fontana Sheriff’s Station at 909-356-6767.
