Ventura County, CA.
A month-long investigation into the illegal manufacturing and possession of assault weapons has
led to the arrest of a Camarillo man on multiple firearms charges.
According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Senior Deputy Frank W. Corona,
in December of 2024, detectives from the Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) initiated an
investigation after “receiving information” about illegal firearms activity in their local
jurisdiction. The ensuing investigation identified 37-year-old Stanislav Skudarnov, a resident of
Camarillo, as the likely suspect.
For the next two weeks, detectives gathered “evidence establishing probable cause” and obtained
a search warrant from the Ventura County Superior Court. On January 7, detectives from the
VCSD SEU and its Directed Enforcement Unit (DEU) served the warrant at Skudarnov’s
residence and detained him while they conducted their search of the property.
That search led to the discovery of “two AR-15 lower receivers,” including one un-serialized
and self-manufactured “ghost gun,” an un-serialized Sig Sauer P320 pistol, an AR-15 upper
receiver, multiple high-capacity magazines and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. Tool marks
on the ghost gun indicated it had been illegally manufactured.
Skudarnov was arrested for possession of an assault weapon, unlawful transfer of a firearm and
manufacturing an assault weapon. He was transported to the Ventura County pre-trial detention
facility, where he was booked with his bail set at $100,000.
