On the morning of January 8 on the quiet streets of Montecito an unidentified individual was shot while walking her dog.

Earlier, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies and fire medics responded to a scene of a report of gunfire. Upon arrival, they reportedly discovered an

injured man and rendered medical attention to him. SBSD investigators traced  the bullet’s trajectory to a nearby residence, where they observed a bullet hole in a window
facing the direction in which the victim had been walking, officials said.

Deputies made contact with the homeowner, 44-year-old Bendar Albashir. According
to SBSD Public Information Officer Ra

quel Zick, the investigation revealed that “Albashir and
the victim were not acquainted.”
Detectives  served a warrant at Albashir’s residence, where they recovered a handgun
believed to have been used in the shooting. Albashir was arrested and transported to Santa
Barbara County Jail where he was charged with discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
