Ventura County, CA.
Three men were arrested in connection with a commercial burglary at a Camarillo business after
stolen goods were recovered during a traffic stop by Burbank Police.
It was approximately 2:47 a.m. on the morning of January 11 when, according to details
provided by Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Detective Kenneth Ledesma,
“suspects broke into a commercial business” in downtown Camarillo, “smashing the front door
and stealing lottery tickets, cigarette packs, lighters, and other items before fleeing.”
The burglary went unnoticed until employees arrived later that morning to open the store and
reported the crime at 8:30 a.m.
Prior to the burglary being reported, two hours after it was committed, at 4:20 a.m., a Burbank Police Department patrol unit conducted a “routine traffic stop” on a
gray pickup truck cruising through the community. Uniformed officers then made contact with
Cristian Uscanga, 29, of Downey, Sean Green, 43, of Long Beach, and Jahiro Benitez, 38, also of
Long Beach. That contact must have aroused suspicion on the part of the cops, and as all three
occupants of the vehicle were asked to step outside, and a “probable cause” search of the vehicle
promptly ensued.
That search led to the discovery of stolen items from the Camarillo commercial burglary, and
contact was made with Camarillo detectives who confirmed the description of the suspect
vehicle. Officers took Uscanga, Green, and Benitez into custody. All three were charged with for
possession of burglary tools and stolen property.
All three suspects were transported to Ventura County Jail, where they were charged with
burglary. All three posted $30,000 bail and await arraignment.
